Finding My Way Back

Image
Half of my life has flown by, and I'm left staring at a dream, a beautiful mirage shimmering on the horizon. I know what I want, I see the life I yearn for, but lately, I've been stuck in this… well, I don't even know what to call it. A rut? A void? For weeks, the energy to even think about taking a step towards that dream has evaporated. I wake up feeling heavy, a sense of dread settling over me like a thick fog. Initially, I blamed it on laziness, that familiar enemy of progress. But digging deeper, I realized there has to be a why behind this persistent inertia. It's not just about lacking motivation; something deeper is at play. Could it be a physical issue? I'm blessed with good health, no chronic illnesses to speak of. Yet, I'm constantly battling fatigue, a weariness that seeps into my bones. Then, I turned inward. Online mental health assessments painted a concerning picture. The results pointed towards potential severe anxiety or depression. Stress, lon...

A Restless Dream

It was a quiet Sunday, a day for reflection. I found myself pondering the future, the path that lay before me. If I managed to navigate the complexities of university life without dropping out, a career as a software engineer at a reputable company seemed within reach. Yet, a sense of unease lingered. While the world of software engineering intrigued me, the prospect of a traditional full-time job felt stifling. I yearned for freedom, a life lived on my own terms. A deep-seated restlessness stirred within me. I had never felt a true sense of belonging in this world, a world of chaos and relentless haste. The suffocating weight of societal expectations left me feeling disillusioned. People, it seemed, were perpetually caught in a cycle of judgment and self-interest. Trust had become a fragile commodity, easily shattered. A Dream Takes Shape I knew I needed to listen to the whispers of my own heart, to break free from the constraints that bound me. I longed for a life of authenticit...

The Life Story of a 35-Year-Old Man

Early Career and Learning Experiences Back in 2009, I faced a bit of a setback when I didn't pass my advanced level exams. I tried to give it another shot, but something just wasn't clicking. Commerce wasn't my thing, and I knew it was time to move on. Around that time, I was really getting into computers, so I decided to enroll in a Computer Hardware Course at a technical school in Rathmalana. It was a great experience, and I even remember writing a full page of English words for the first time there! It was the start of a whole new chapter for me. So, I finished my Hardware course and landed a trainee gig at a computer shop in Colombo. The pay was a measly 5000 rupees a month - not even enough to cover my commute! I quit after the training period, but the owner convinced me to come back full-time. Big mistake. He turned out to be the kind of boss who only ever saw my flaws, never my accomplishments. The constant criticism wore me down, and I ended up leaving after just tw...
